Patrick Joseph Caulfield CBE RA was a British painter and printmaker, specialising in bold compositions, two-dimensional illustrations and elements of photorealism.

His work was heavily influenced by two art movements; Pop Art and Surrealism which is apparent through his use of composition and strong cartoon-like black outlines.

Caulfield studied at Chelsea School of Art and the Royal College of Art and then went on to be nominated for the Turner Prize in 1987 for his first solo show "The Artist's Eye"
