Wilhelmina Barns-Graham

Barns-Graham was a central figure in the group of Modernist artists who gathered in St Ives during the 1940s. Location and environment were key inspirations for the artist although her style ranged from figurative work through to pure abstraction. Wave patterns were a reoccurring theme, most obviously referenced in her delicate pen and ink drawings but also underlying concern in her magnificent late acrylics.
