John Pawle

It is 25 years since I had the pleasure of opening John Pawle's first solo exhibition.

We had known each other for a long time and I was delighted to see the paintings were for sale, in fact I said "John welcome to the ranks of the professionals".

Twenty-five years have passed, and now at the age of 92 he is showing yet another galaxy of paintings. He is talented, prolific, hard working and has reaped the rewards. His work has flowered in so many ways. His colours are harmonious blends of reality, bringing the warm Mediterranean landscapes into our lives, and creating still lives with a heart-warming shock of recognition.

These pictures convey a love of life which John shares with us all.
