This sculpture was created the year Wall moved back to London from his home in Cornwall where he had been working as an assistant the Barbara Hepworth.

At the time Norbert Lynton aptly commented that Wall's use of the curve had 'the effect of setting into motion forms and relationships that had been tense but static'.
