John Pawle
The death of John Pawle was an event of great sadness for the many people who loved and admired this remarkably talented yet modest man. For the last 20 years, all of us at Portland Gallery had felt privileged to have been able to help bring his work to a wider public audience. He (and we) loved the excitement of the new work being produced and the next exhibition being planned. He painted actively until a few months before his death and his last show was here in January 2009.
So it was with some surprise and great delight that a recent visit to the studio revealed a collection of John's paintings (some dating back more than 50 years) which his family and executors have allowed us to exhibit as a tribute and memory to John. Most of the 70 works will be for sale.
If you would like us to alert you via email when these paintings can be viewed on our web-site, please subscribe to the artist's emailing list or contact Sophie Morgan directly -
A catalogue will be available for this exhibition.
