'...as far back as I can remember I have loved painting white'

Returning from France to Scotland in 1934, Redpath began to paint with a renewed determination. When her father died in 1939, he left Anne a small sum on money with which she bought a house in Beaconsfield Terrace in Hawick. 'In this new home she began to paint a series of intimate interiors...similar in palette and subject to some of the still-lifes Cadell had painted in the 1920s ...examples of her love of white and cool harmonies...successfully convey an impression of mass and a feeling of sculptural quality.'' P. Bourne.
