Anne Redpath

Objects on a Red Ground

  • Signed (lower right)
  • Oil on board
  • 28 x 40 ins

Mercury Gallery, London

This painting is typical of Redpath's late works which became darker and increasingly abstract. In 1961 Redpath visited Portugal were she was struck by the 'golden churches'...'naturally when I came home I brought a golden table, golden cups, a cockerel that was painted'.
